Vigilant Security designs, installs, repairs and monitors alarm systems for Naples homes and businesses. We’ve been a locally owned Naples alarm company since 2009. Your free estimate is with a technician, not a salesperson, and if you already have working equipment, we’ll look at using it instead of selling you a new system.
What a Naples security system should do
Most Southwest Florida homeowners need more than a siren. You want to know the doors are secure after the cleaning crew leaves, whether the garage was left open, and whether a smoke, flood or temperature problem needs attention before it becomes an expensive repair.
Depending on the home, a system can include:
- Door and window contacts
- Motion detectors and glass-break sensors
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Flood and temperature sensors
- Panic buttons
- Smartphone app control to arm, disarm, get alerts and give a trusted vendor temporary access
- Cameras, smart locks and garage door control working alongside the alarm
Installation starts with your property
There’s no one-size-fits-all package. A technician walks the property, asks how the home is used, and recommends protection where it adds the most value.
- Year-round homeowners usually want simple operation and fast help if a device fails.
- Seasonal residents often focus on remote oversight, water detection and vendor access. See security systems for snowbirds.
- Vacation rental owners may want smart locks, exterior cameras and alerts that confirm the property is secure between guests.
We also plan around pets, tall windows, impact glass, sliders, hurricane shutters and detached structures. A motion detector placed without accounting for a large dog or an open staircase causes false alarms; a system built around how people actually come and go gets armed consistently.
Wired or wireless?
Older Naples homes often have hardwired sensors that still work well. Wireless sensors make an upgrade cleaner where walls and ceilings shouldn’t be opened. Neither is automatically better, and many systems use both.
Already have an alarm? We can often use it.
National companies often say everything has to be replaced. Sometimes that’s true: a discontinued panel, damaged wiring or an obsolete communicator shouldn’t be ignored. But working hardwired contacts, motion sensors, sirens and keypads can often be reused or built into an upgraded system, which can lower the cost.
If your system was monitored by ADT, Vivint or another company and you’ve cancelled that service, we can generally take it over and monitor it. It depends on the panel and its condition, so we’ll inspect it and tell you whether it can be repaired, converted, upgraded in stages or replaced only where needed. We work with 2GIG, Honeywell, DSC and Qolsys alarm systems.
Professional monitoring
An unmonitored alarm makes noise and sends app notifications, but it depends on you seeing the alert. With 24/7 central-station monitoring, a burglary, fire, panic or environmental signal gets a response even when you’re asleep, traveling or on a plane: the monitoring center follows your account’s response plan, contacts you and your designated contacts, and calls emergency services when appropriate.
We use cellular communication, which doesn’t depend on a phone line, and some systems can use cellular and internet together for redundancy. Our central stations are five-diamond certified. See Naples alarm monitoring and rates.
Insurance discounts. Many insurers offer discounts for monitored systems; requirements vary by carrier. We provide an alarm certificate to each new customer after installation. More: alarm system insurance discounts.
Cameras, locks and alarms each have a job
Cameras show what happened. The alarm detects events and gets a response. Smart locks and garage controls manage access. Wi-Fi keeps remote devices dependable. A camera shouldn’t replace a monitored alarm, and an alarm won’t show you whether a vendor arrived — together they give you the full picture. See security camera installation, Wi-Fi access points and remote garage door access.
Local service after installation
Batteries wear out, cellular networks change, sensors get damaged, and you may want to add protection after a renovation. Those are normal service needs, not reasons to sign a new long-term contract. The technician who installs your system is the one who services it, and we generally schedule service calls within 48 hours, with most handled the same day or next business day. Need a repair now?
